The .270 Winchester Short Magnum is a modernization of the .270 Winchester, offering more velocity and energy for the same bullet weights fired and thus flatter trajectories. The 270 WSM, being a short action cartridge, is popular among mountaineous hunters who tend to like lighter rifles and ammunition to carry around, while mostly encountering medium game at distances and angles that require fine ballistics.

Oryx means good accuracy, massive mushrooming and high residual weight. This bonded design suits the all-round hunter who wishes to simplify the choice of cartridge for hunting.
